Silky reaches 200 assists as the Boogeymen find their range again

Silky put up 37 points in 19 games, and no one on the club had more.

Last week's prediction said the Boogeymen would out-shoot their opponents across the week again while goals for and goals against stayed closer together than the shot count suggested. They did out-shoot opponents, but the goals did not stay close, with 70 for and 43 against, so the call missed.

An 11-2 scoreboard looks like a misprint until someone reads it twice. On Friday, June 19, the Boogeymen beat Sticks N Bones 11-2. It was the most goals the club has scored in a 6s game this season, and it sat in the middle of a week that had begun to answer the one before it.

That game belonged first to two forwards. Igor Orlov had 8 points, 4 of them goals. His 6s average as a forward is 2.6 points, so this was far past his usual line. Raz scored 5 goals, against a 6s average of 1.3. Raz now has goals in 9 straight games. Erb added 4 assists from defence, and the Boogeymen out-shot Sticks N Bones 28 to 9.

The week before had ended with 28 goals for and 27 against, a ledger that gave nothing away. This week the Boogeymen went 13-6. They scored 70 goals and allowed 43. They also out-shot opponents 323 to 223. It was not a clean week, and six games went the other way. Jonas Wagner had a meltdown in net in two of those losses, against Lunch Pail HC and Victoria Cougars. Still, the club found its range again, and the line that ran under most of it belonged to Silky.

Matteo Lehmann held up the other side of the goaltending story. He stopped 19 of 20 shots against Mommys touch, a steal in net. The Boogeymen still lost that game 1-0. Across 8 games this week he saved 83.3%. Erb, too, had a big game away from the rout, with 5 points against The Glazerzz. His 6s average as a defenceman is 1.6 points.

Silky played 19 games this week and had 37 points. No one on the club had more. He scored 13 goals and had 24 assists, and he took 65 shots. He also played defence in some of those games, so the line was built from more than one position.

Silky reached 200 assists this title. He ends the week with 207 assists and 355 points this title, in 150 games. Those numbers are the work of a whole title, and this week alone added 37 points to them.

He opened the week with 4 points against Awkward Stick Length. He followed it with 4 more against Golden Goals. Both were big games by his own standard. In the rout of Sticks N Bones he had 2 goals and 2 assists, another big line for him. On Saturday he had 3 goals and 2 assists against OG Farded, in a 3s game.

Sunday held the clearest picture of him. The Boogeymen first shut out Junior C Allstars 3-0, with Silky on the scoresheet for an assist. Then they met the same club again and won 4-3. Silky scored 3 goals in that game, on 10 shots. His 6s average as a forward is 0.9 goals. His third goal came at 17:24 of the 3rd period, assisted by Erb, and it was the last goal of the game.

He was not alone in the week's milestones. Joey Flopfish reached 200 assists this title. Beev reached 50 assists this title. Beev also set 6s career highs with 3 goals and 9 shots against Awkward Stick Length.

There is a kind of player whose value shows in the box score only when the box score is read slowly. Silky's week reads fast. Points came in the blowout and in the close wins, in 6s and in 3s, at forward and on defence. A club that went 28 for and 27 against the week before got its scoring back this week, and the assist column shows who did the most to carry it.

Trust in a lineup is rarely announced. It is counted. This week the count ran to 37, and the name beside it was Silky.

Silky crosses the next round number in goals this title, and the Boogeymen finish another week with more wins than losses.
