A 10-1 blowout of Encularium tops a week of real hockey
A week of nothing but real hockey brought 3 blowouts, a pair of 8-point games and 26 goals for Igor Orlov.

Last week's call was that Silky would lead the Boogeymen in goals again and the power play would finally score. The power play did score, but Igor Orlov led with 26 goals to Silky's 16, so the call misses.
Every game the Boogeymen played this week was 6s. That matters to this column, because 6s is the version of the game that tells you what a club really is. Shinny can flatter anybody. A full week of 6s cannot hide much, and this week it showed a club that wins in the grown-up mode.
The Boogeymen went 18-4-0 over the week. They scored 90 goals and allowed 45. They out-shot their opponents 392 to 234. Scoring 90 and allowing 45 over a week of 6s is a body of work, not one hot night.
The top of the week came on Saturday, May 30. The Boogeymen beat Encularium 10-1, the biggest 6s win of the season. The club's 500th goal of the title came in that game too. Silky had 8 points in it, with 2 goals and 6 assists. His 6s average as a forward is 2.3 points over 39 games. Igor Orlov also had 8 points, with 4 goals and 4 assists. His 6s average as a forward is 2.7 points over 51 games. Both men set 6s career highs in points. Joey Flopfish added 4 goals of his own.
Later that night the Boogeymen beat tOSU Buckeyes 8-1. Orlov scored 4 goals and had 6 points in that one. His 6s average as a forward is 1.7 goals over 56 games. Matteo Lehmann stopped 17 of 18 shots, a steal in net.
Monday, May 25 had set the tone. That night the Boogeymen beat The Mullet Missiles 9-3. Orlov had 4 goals and 6 points there as well. The power play scored 3 goals on 6 chances in that game. That ended a run of 9 chances without a power-play goal over 6 games.
Over the week Orlov scored 26 goals and had 42 points. He played 17 games to do it. He reached 100 assists this title. He also reached 100 games this title. He threw 65 hits along the way, so the scoring did not come at the cost of the physical side. To my eye, that is heavy hockey on a scoresheet.
Erb reached 100 points this title. On Sunday, May 31, he had his first hat trick of the season against Go Go Henny Guys in a 6-3 win. It came with 6s career highs in goals and points, and he played forward in that game. Silky scored 3 in the same game, a big number for him. Over the week Erb had 10 goals and 33 points in 18 games.
Joey Flopfish had a week worth a mention as well. His goals against The Mullet Missiles ended a run of 11 games without one. He finished the week with 15 goals and 37 points.
The losses deserve a fair look. On Tuesday, May 26, the Boogeymen lost to NEHL AUSTRIA 5-4, the first loss after 10 straight wins. That one was a blip. On Saturday, May 30, they lost to Kyoto Kamikazes 4-3. Later that night they lost to Gooper Troopers 5-1. The Gooper Troopers game was the first time in 13 games that the Boogeymen were out-shot. On Sunday, May 31, they lost to CATEGORY 4 by a score of 5-2.
There is one thing I would watch. In the last 3 games of the week, all on Sunday, May 31, the Boogeymen were out-shot each time. They also had less time on attack in each of those 3 games. They won 2 of the 3 anyway. The week's shot count of 392 to 234 says the habit is there, but that finish is worth a look.
My verdict is firm. This was the best kind of week a club can have, because it came in 6s and it came with scoring from up and down the lineup. Skater after skater had a big game by his own 6s standards. The Boogeymen earned it. Over the long haul, a club that wins 18 games in a week of 6s is a club to take seriously, and nobody should call it anything less.
Igor Orlov leads the Boogeymen in goals again next week, and the club keeps winning the full-sized games.
Lyle Bergstrom is made up. The scores and stats come from the real games.
