Silky scores 7 against Paws in a week of blowouts

Ten-goal wins in both modes, three 200-point milestones, and a power play gone cold.

Last week's call was that Igor Orlov would lead the Boogeymen in goals again and the shot share would hold. The shots held, but Silky scored 57 goals to Orlov's 26, so the call misses.

Start with Silky, because this week belongs to him. Thursday, May 21, against Paws: 7 goals. The Boogeymen won 9-2. That is a 3s career high in goals, points and shots for him. His 3s average as a forward is 2 goals over 19 games. Nobody scored more goals in a game this week. Frankly, that is the headline and it is not close.

Then he went back out and did it again. Against Wet Milkmen he had 6 goals and 10 points. The Boogeymen won 10-1, the biggest 3s win of the season. The 10 points are a 3s career high. His 3s average as a forward is 4.1 points over 20 games. Two monster games on the same night. Credit where it is due.

Joey Flopfish was right there in the Wet Milkmen game. He had 9 points, with 4 goals and 5 assists. That is a 3s career high for him too. On Wednesday, May 20, he also scored 3 goals from defence against Biohazard, a big number for him. The Boogeymen still lost to Biohazard 6-5 in overtime, a blip and nothing more.

Now the real hockey, which is 6s. On Friday, May 22, the Boogeymen beat les vieux bums 10-2. That is the biggest 6s win of the season. It is also the most goals in a 6s game this season. The power play scored 3 goals on 4 chances in that game. Joey Flopfish scored 4 goals in it, a 6s career high.

Raz is Exhibit A for the grown-up mode. He scored 5 goals against Redacted Job in a 6-2 win. His 6s average as a forward is 1.1 goals over 23 games. That one game gave him 6s career highs in goals, points and shots. Next up he scored 4 against Puckhaus in a 6-3 win. That is 19 goals in 9 games for the week.

Silky reached 200 points this title. He finished the week at 248.

Joey Flopfish reached 200 points this title. He finished the week at 238.

Igor Orlov reached 200 points this title. He finished the week at 215, with 128 goals this title.

The week as a whole: 26-3-3. The Boogeymen scored 162 goals and allowed 70. They out-shot the opposition 494 to 350. That is not a good week. That is a week that makes other weeks look lazy.

Friday, May 22 alone produced 12 wins in a night. There were 2 losses that night too, 6-5 in overtime to Brown eye banditz and 4-3 in overtime to Uknighted. Twelve wins in a night. Count them.

The win streak reached 12 games. It ended on Saturday, May 23, when the Boogeymen lost to Snoop Dogg HC 4-0. A shrug, nothing more. They are already back on a 3-game win streak.

Spare me any talk about the net. Matteo Lehmann finished the week at 78.5% over 14 games. He allowed 42 goals on 195 shots. Biohazard and Brown eye banditz each put 6 past him in overtime losses. Jonas Wagner sits at 81.9% over 15 games. If the skaters keep scoring 10 a night, nobody will notice. When they stop, everybody will.

The power play is the one hole in the column. It has gone 8 chances without a goal over 5 games. A club that scored 162 goals in a week has not found one with the extra man in its last 5 games. Fix that before anything else.

Beev got his first hat trick of the season against Lafette. The Boogeymen lost to Lafette 5-4 anyway. He finished the week with 11 goals in 8 games. On Saturday, May 23, the Boogeymen beat 15 Percent 2-1, and both goals were his.

Joey Flopfish ran his point streak to 27 games before it ended on Saturday, May 23. For the week he had 105 points, with 36 goals and 69 assists. Twenty-seven games of points is a streak, not an accident.

Silky leads the Boogeymen in goals again next week, and the power play finally scores.

Gord Pettibone is made up. The scores and stats come from the real games.
