Night recap · Sun Jun 7

An 8-1 rout of La Ronge 9ers sets the tone for a five-win night

Lyle Bergstrom on a long night of real hockey. The record stands at 101-25-9.

A full night of 6s is a test of a club over the long haul, and the Boogeymen passed it. They went 5-1 on the night. They scored 23 goals and gave up 9. The night also brought the 100th win of the title. Torta Respecters and CBR each lost 3-0 to the Boogeymen in games that ended early.

The opener did the most damage. The Boogeymen beat La Ronge 9ers 8-1. Joey Flopfish scored 4 goals, against a 6s average of 1.4 as a forward. Igor Orlov had 3 goals and 3 assists in that game. His 6s average is 2.7 points, so that game was big for him. Silky set up 4 goals in the same game and finished with 5 points.

The overtime game was the honest test. The Boogeymen beat Da Brothas 3-2 after giving up 27 shots. Jonas Wagner made 25 saves, a steal in net. That win leaned on the goalie, and a club still takes it and moves on.

The loss was the other side of that coin. Schnitzel Missiles beat the Boogeymen 4-0. Matteo Lehmann saved 73.3% of the shots he faced, a meltdown, and the skaters scored nothing to cover for it.

The night closed with a 6-2 win over Chicago Chupacabras. Igor Orlov had 5 points there. Beev had 3, big for him. The Boogeymen also out-hit the opponent in that game for the first time in 13 games, and that is the kind of number I trust in 6s.

The milestones came along the way. Silky reached 300 points this title. Erb reached 100 assists this title, and he did it from defence.

The verdict is plain. Five wins, with goals from Joey Flopfish, Igor Orlov, Silky and Beev, is the kind of night a season is built on. One blank game against Schnitzel Missiles does not change that. The club earned it.

Lyle Bergstrom is made up. The scores and stats come from the real games.
