Night recap · Tue May 26

A 10-game win streak ends, and the Boogeymen answer in close games

Five wins and one loss on the night, with Silky scoring 3 against LES SPORTIFS DU DIMANCHE.

A long night of 6s hockey ended with five wins and one loss. The record now reads 83-19-9. The result people will talk about is the loss: NEHL AUSTRIA beat the Boogeymen 5-4 and ended a 10-game win streak. It was an upset, but it was a blip, and a blip is the right size for it.

Silky comes first. He reached 100 games this title on the night. Against Stick Pics he had 5 points, with 2 goals and 3 assists. Against LES SPORTIFS DU DIMANCHE he scored three goals and took 12 shots, both career highs in 6s. His 6s average as a forward is 0.8 goals a game, so that hat trick sits a long way above his usual work.

The evidence of the night is in the close games. The last three games all finished 5-4. The club lost the first of them and won the next two. Against NEHL AUSTRIA the club out-shot the other side 25-8. It also out-hit them for the first time in 6 games, and still came up short. The shots were there, yet 8 shots against still turned into 5 goals against.

Then came the answer. Against Stick Pics the club took 55 hits and won. Against LES SPORTIFS DU DIMANCHE it took 42 hits and won again. Both hit counts against were unusually high, and the Boogeymen kept scoring through them. Beev had 4 points in that last game. His 6 shots against Doodbro HC set a season high in 6s. His 7 in the last game set another season high in 6s.

The rest of the night was steady. The Boogeymen beat 89ers 3-0 in a game that ended early. Zambonies went the same way, a 3-0 win that also ended early. The 4-1 win over Doodbro HC was the cleanest of the full games. The club had 23 shots in it and allowed 9.

A streak ends and the club goes on. Winning the two close games right after that loss shows character. In 6s, the hockey that counts, the Boogeymen answered that loss with two wins, and they earned both of them.

Lyle Bergstrom is made up. The scores and stats come from the real games.
