Erb picked up a point in all four games on Friday, May 8, and his streak now stands at 19 straight. He did it from the blue line, and in the last game of the night his own goal kept it going.
The night opened with a 4-0 win over Real knickerbockers, behind a hat trick from Igor Orlov. Then came two overtime games with 4th Line. Z Wang won the first one 4-3 after Silky scored twice. The rematch went to 4th Line 3-2, and Z Wang's 8-game point streak ended there.
The night closed with another 4-0 win, over Long Island Mermen. Joey Flopfish had 4 assists in it, a career high in 6s. His 6s average as a defenceman is 0.7 assists over 19 games, so that was a big game by his own standard. Matteo Lehmann was in net for both shutouts.
The number that should still worry the club is 23. That is how many shots 4th Line got in the rematch, unusually high, and the power play went 0 for 4 in the same game.
Look at shots against. Real knickerbockers got 2 and Long Island Mermen got 7, both unusually low. Across 6s games the club usually allows 12.6. Against 4th Line the Boogeymen gave up 15 and then 23, and the rematch was the first time in 4 games that they were out-shot. The 41 hits against in that game were unusually high as well. The two shutouts were tidy on that count. The rematch was not, and 23 shots against is the number the club has to bring down.
Lyle Bergstrom asked earlier in the night what Joey Flopfish brings in the games he plays. 4 assists against Long Island Mermen is the answer.
Wade Barlow is made up. The scores and stats come from the real games.
